You Know Nothing

This week Game of Thrones came back, It’s my favourite show, I’m a little obsessed. So I decided to make Some Thrones inspired Amigurumi. I think I will probably make more eventually but I started with Jon Snow and Ghost.

I love making new things. It’s exciting to have nothing to work from and to see something evolve from a vague picture in my head. It’s nice to make things from a pre-made pattern but I like the challenge of making my own.

It is however a lot more time consuming! I jot down what I do as I go so I have a record to check whilst writing up the final draft of the pattern. I am happy with what I have made and I hope you guys like them too.

I have written up the pattern for Jon, but I still need to write the Final Draft of the pattern for Ghost. I took lots of photos whilst I was making them so The patterns will be quite pic heavy! Which is great but it means more editing. I will be posting both Patterns and the dolls hopefully tomorrow night but if all goes well. fingers crossed.

Walter Wolf

After the making of Mr fox I fell in love with Son’s Popkes patterns. Sonja is a very talented artist and I admire her creations alot so go and look and buy patterns because she’s awesome.

My friend asked me to make her a crochet wolf and I knew exactly where to go for the pattern. The pattern also had a little cape for him which I didn’t make as she wanted him without clothing but it’s super cute. He’d also look nice with a little scarf like the fox.

I struggled to find a good range of wool colours as I usually do. I hate that I can never get the correct wool that I picture in my head and I am reluctant to buy online as I can’t see what I am getting. The tip of the tail is a darker grey but 3 shades of grey was too much to ask of my local craft shops. I do think he turned out very well and like most artists I am probably a bit over critical of my own work.

Mr Fox

This fox was made from Son’ Popkes beautiful Crochet Fox Pattern.

I bought this pattern here.

Sonja Has made a great pattern, it’s easy to follow so long as you read through the instructions on the first page regarding colour changes.

It was fairly quick to make the scarf was actually the most time consuming part but he looks naked without it!

Sonja suggests using textured 100% wool yarn but I struggled to find the colours and thickness required so in the end I went for acrylic which doesn’t quite have the same effect, but he is beautiful nonetheless. I used doubled DK and mixed colours for the brown and white parts, a light brown with a dark brown and a white with a cream. I wanted somewhere between the two colours and it worked quite nicely and gave it a textured look without using 100% wool. The orange was also doubled up to match the thickness of the rest.

I used 10mm safety eyes and also used a spare eye for the nose. I was going to embroider the nose but my other half suggested that I use one of the eyes and I was quite taken with how it looked.

I made this fox as a commission but I think I’ll add him to my etsy shop when I get round to sorting that out so he can be made to order.

I tried to take lots of photos for this one so I hope you enjoy!

I just really hope he’s well received. As with all of my creations I will be sad to see him go! It’s so hard making something for someone else because you get a bit attached as it gets closer to completion. But I can always make another!

Thanks again to Sonja for the lovely pattern.
and to everyone else go and have a go! I’m sure you will love him as much as I do!

That Awkward Moment..

When you make a doll for your 4 year old niece that accidentally looks like Britney Spears. It’s waaaay before the head shaving and crazy so it’s still ok… is it ok? Her dad is going to be unimpressed.

The funny thing is it’s the first doll I have made and to begin with she did have alot of bald patches! It’s like Britney in reverse.

Honestly was not my intention though and I do still think she’s adorable so I’m just going to go with it.
